Our corn lady is regarded as a traditional product that comes from Slovacko region in Czech Republic. Corn leaves are a traditional material, which started to spread out in Czech lands in the 17th century. In many poor families, corn leaves were used to make different kind of products, which were later sold on the markets, providing families with some money.
Waste from harvested corn cobs is used in the production. The dried corn leaves are soaked in warm water with detergent. This process makes the leaves firmer, so that they do not break during work. The modelling of a specific doll is then a question of skill of a particular author.
